Students from Southampton University Cycling Club visit Colne & explore the surrounding area.
Whilst out in Colne today (Thur 20th June), we spotted a bunch of cyclists in the town centre. They explained to us that they were students from Southampton University and University cycling trip. Staying at Earby, they were taking about 1-2 weeks to explore Colne and the surrounding area.
They were certainly enjoying the terrain … earlier today they’d cycled over Pendle Hill and we’d caught them whilst they were exploring Colne town centre. (We only captured about half of them on the picture!). After our chat, they all headed off to The Arcade Cafe for refreshments.
Certainly nice to see visitors to our local area and even nicer to have had an opportunity to chat to them. Clearly, the Colne Grand Prix event has some impact on tourism. Also, how appropriate to bump into them today – on Clean Air Day!
