The Natter Shack

The Natter Shack offers a relaxing chat with like-minded people, which aims to combat loneliness and isolation in our local communities.  They will be offering meet-ups at various locations including Colne, Barrowford, Nelson, Padiham, Burnley, Fence, Earby and Barley!

We chatted to three lovely ladies at The Lounge, Barrowford for about an hour and a half! (Kath Taylor, Christine Stuttard and Wendy Omerod).  The ladies were most welcoming and offered very relaxed and friendly chats.  Perfect for meeting new people, with no pressure.

On the way out, we bumped into a couple of friends who work for the NHS (Ambulance service) and they were very interested in the scheme.

We didn’t get to meet Tracey Smith, (the founder of this lovely idea) … but here’s what she says,

After seeing many people sat alone in coffee bars/cafes recently it’s prompted me to set up a lovely little scheme last week called The Natter Shack. Loneliness and isolation can be hugely detrimental to a person’s mental health. Hopefully this will bring people together to just sit, drink, talk and relax and who knows, maybe form new friendships.

I’m pleased to announce The Lounge in Barrowford will be hosting their first Natter Shack this Wednesday, 10.30 -11.30am and every Wednesday thereafter.

We also have Eadies Kitchen, Colne join us today. The Natter Shack will be held there every Thursday 10 a.m. to 11am.

If you can think of someone of any age that would benefit from these little get togethers please let them know or pop along yourselves.

A little further afield we have The Bridge Inn, Padiham, welcome all for free tea and coffee at the following times: Tuesday 12pm -4pm and Wednesday 6pm – 8pm weekly.

The Mooch Cafe, Padiham will also be hosting The Natter Shack weekly, every Thursday 10am -11am where you can eat, drink and chat.

Word has spread to America and I have someone wanting to introduce the scheme over there!

Please spread the word to those not on social media. Thank you for reading, Tracey xx
