Easter In Colne – Themed Displays

On the hunt for Easter Displays around Colne

The Easter in Colne Event is on Sat 20th April 2019. This year, we had a wander around Colne and were on the lookout for shops with Easter displays in their shop window.

Our first stop was Emma Hartley Bridalware and we managed to grab a photo of the display along with a member of staff – Rachel Yates.  This was an easy shoot, as we know Rachel well. For those who don’t know, Rachel is a key member & lead singer for The Band Crash! (They are a very popular local band, always put on a great performance and we love to follow them, if time permits).

Next stop … The Party Planet. We had not visited this shop for photo’s recently, so we took the opportunity to pop in & meet the owners.  Whilst The Party Planet shop itself has been established for many years, the new owners – John & Catherine Townsend – only took over the shop back in August 2018.  Even so, they quickly got into the community spirit and entered a display competition which was part of the ‘Halloween in Colne’ event.  This was their first attempt at a local competition and were rewarded with 3rd place.

On to Manor Property Letting Agents. We tried so hard to get the ladies out for a photo next to their Easter shop display, but they weren’t having any of it! Nevertheless, we had a bit of fun trying to persuade them. Maybe next time … ?

A daffodil-themed Easter display is on display at the Glasshouse (outside the Colne Market Hall). This was made by the children from West Street School.  At the centre of the display, there is a huge daffodil. They’ve certainly worked very hard and it will no doubt brighten up the day for many people.

Additionally, 1000+ decorated eggs are currently on display at Colne Library. These are part of the Egg Decorating Competition (for our local children), which is also part of the Easter in Colne event.

Update: The Winners
First prize went to West Street Primary School for the Glass House display (Marie Curie / daffodils ), second to Emma Hartley Bridalwear, Third to Manor Properties, and Fourth went to Menzone.
